Interview with Thai Airways

Interviewee: Mr. Khun Ronnarong, Senior Station Manager

Q. Thai Airways has entrusted HAECO to handle transit checks in Hong Kong for its entire passenger fleet. Can you introduce our readers to the aircraft types involved and the service scope?

A. HAECO has gained approvals from the Department of Civil Aviation of Thailand and Thai Airways’ Quality Assurance Technical Department to carry out transit checks, overnight checks and technical rectifications on the Thai Airways fleet, including Airbus A380, A340, A330, Boeing 747 and Boeing 777.

Q. When choosing a service provider for such a diverse fleet, what are the qualities that you find most important in an MRO? How satisfied are you with HAECO?

A. Thai Airways has been in the airline industry for 54 years and Hong Kong was our first overseas station. We appointed HAECO as our service provider because of the company’s abundant experience in handling maintenance for various types of Boeing and Airbus aircraft flying frequently in and out of Hong Kong International Airport. Our long-term business relationship has been excellent and that is because HAECO is not only one of the world’s biggest MROs, but also has the right equipment, technical knowhow and skilled staff, to provide us with quality service every time.

Q. With the recently established partnership in components repair and overhaul between Thai Airways and HAECO ITM Limited, the business relationship between the two companies has been brought to a new level. Can you share with our readers the benefits your company has seen?

A. We believe the new partnership will help shorten component repair turnaround time and minimise repair costs because of the flexibility of the component inventory and the seamless services offered.
