In May, HAESL celebrated the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival with its staff and the community. By purchasing rice dumplings (a traditional festive food) from a social enterprise and distributing them to its staff for a voluntary donation, the company made the celebration a charitable event. The money donated was then used to purchase more dumplings for the local community. Remaining donations went to the charity, St. James Settlement. Two job opportunities were also created for young interns as part of the event.
HAESL designed the event with multiple objectives in mind: firstly to render support to a local social enterprise, secondly to offer its staff members a chance to celebrate the festival, and lastly to encourage staff to share their blessing with their neighbours.
