STAECO obtains new MDA

On 11 July, STAECO obtained CAAC Modification Design Approval (MDA) certification for the installation of electronic flight bag (EFB) support and charging modules on Boeing 737-700/800/8 aircraft. Equipped with the MDA, STAECO completed a prototype installation on a Shandong Airlines’ Boeing 737 aircraft, and the installation was successfully reviewed and verified by the CAAC.

The EFB charging components were developed and manufactured by Shandong Xiangyu Aviation Technology Service Co. Ltd., while the EFB supports were developed by STAECO. It is the first time either component has been installed on this aircraft type.

Following the successful prototype installation, STAECO commenced a fleet-wide project in August to install EFB support and charging modules on all of Shandong Airlines’ aircraft; a total of 150 aircraft are involved, including the airlines’ current fleet and new aircraft on order. The installation programme is STAECO’s seventh MDA project officially approved by the CAAC and is the company’s second fleet-wide modification project for Shandong Airlines, following the Express Cockpit Voice Recorder (eCVR) project. Once again, this contract demonstrates STAECO’s growing capability in narrowbody aircraft modifications.
