Supporting women in aviation

Women in Aviation International, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in aviation career fields, celebrated its fourth international Girls in Aviation Day on 13 October. Ninety-eight events were organised in 14 countries, including activity days held in 36 states in the USA, attracting 15,000 girls between the ages of eight and 17 years to take part.

HAECO Americas was a presenting sponsor for Girls in Aviation Day for the second year running. The event was hosted by the North Carolina Women in Aviation – First in Flight Chapter and was held at Gilliam-McConnell Airfield in Carthage, North Carolina. Participants were given the opportunity to interact with aviation professionals, ranging from pilots and aircraft mechanics to aviation industry executives, through a fun-filled day of activities.

HAECO Americas assembled a volunteer team representing the MRO sector, as well as the Cabin Solutions business. The team displayed a variety of aircraft parts, including an aircraft wing model, honeycomb material and seat parts, and sparked the girls’ interest in aviation by introducing different occupations and roles across the industry.

HAECO Americas looks forward to supporting this meaningful event in future years.
