Since the outbreak of COVID-19, HAECO Hong Kong has made hygiene standards in aircraft cabin interiors a top priority, in order to help its airline customers keep their passengers and crew safe from the coronavirus. The company is continuously reviewing and enhancing its cabin cleaning service offerings by introducing innovative new procedures, technology, and equipment.
Since September, HAECO has been deploying an automated robot to carry out deep-cleaning and decontamination and apply anti-microbial coatings in the aircraft cabins of the Cathay Pacific Airways Airbus A330, A350, and Boeing 777 fleets. This service is in addition to the standard cabin cleaning services performed for the airline.
The technology, developed by Avalon SteriTech, consists of a compact four-wheel drive vehicle that automatically sprays disinfecting solution throughout the cabin. The solution is atomised to a specific concentration, to ensure that the disinfectants penetrate into the small gaps in cabin interiors that are difficult to reach during manual cleaning, so helping to eliminate viruses and bacteria.
Application of the anti-microbial coating is carried out by HAECO’s Ramp Services team at recommended intervals, in accordance with the OEM’s operating procedures. The team has undergone comprehensive training for the deployment and operation of the robot.
