HAECO recently got together with sister company Cathay Pacific, to organise a unique staycation for aviation enthusiasts. The staycation package, over the weekend of 28 August, included accommodation at The Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel or The Silveri Hong Kong-MGallery and an exclusive tour of our maintenance facilities at Hong Kong International Airport. The offer rapidly sold out, with over 200 enthusiasts signing up to experience a world of aviation via the Cathay x HAECO staycation.
In addition to touring HAECO’s hangars, visitors were able to get up close and personal with two Cathay Pacific aircraft – including the chance to visit the flight deck of an A350-900 aircraft and check out the cabin configuration on Cathay’s latest A321neo aircraft, equipped with HAECO’s VectorTM Economy seats.
Meanwhile, on the ground, HAECO Hong Kong’s ambassadors were out in force, escorting groups to different areas of the facility and demonstrating tools like dentcheck, AR googles, and wire locks - enabling guests to make their own customized keychains to take back home, along with a goodie-bag of Cathay and HAECO souvenirs. HAECO’s engineers and mechanics also took time to explain their work to the visitors, widening their aviation and aircraft knowledge.
A highlight of the visit was a tightly contested paper plane flying competition in the hangar, and two champions were crowned at the end of both the morning and afternoon sessions, after managing to fly their paper planes for over 20 metres.
Commercial Manager Base Customer, Gavin Tse, who led this successful event, was happy to hear great feedback from guests: “It’s the best motivation for all of us at HAECO to organise more events,” he said.
