Inspiring young aviators through Cathay's 'I Can Fly' Programme

HAECO is committed to nurturing the next generation of aviation enthusiasts, and we were delighted to collaborate with Cathay Pacific on their 'I Can Fly' Programme in March and April 2024. Over the course of three Saturdays, around 300 secondary school students had the incredible opportunity to visit our maintenance hangar in Hong Kong. During their visit, they witnessed live demonstrations of our state-of-the-art MRO technologies and explored the inner and outer workings of an aircraft.

Guided by retired HAECO employees from the HAECO Veterans Club and our experienced engineers, the students were given a special behind-the-scenes glimpse into the intricate processes involved in aviation maintenance. This immersive experience aimed to highlight the critical importance of ensuring the safety and airworthiness of each aircraft. The students had the chance to explore our workshops, witness a demonstration of the dentCheck technology used for detecting airframe damage, and examine various aircraft components and structures up close. These activities provided valuable insights into the world of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) work.

HAECO expresses sincere appreciation to Cathay Pacific, all the volunteers, and the program participants for making this enriching experience possible. We hope that this experience ignites a passion for aviation in the students and showcases the wide range of career opportunities available in the industry. We eagerly look forward to participating in other meaningful initiatives that empower youth and sharing our passion with fellow aviation enthusiasts.
