Plating shop resumes operations
ISSUE 21
Mar 2016

HAECO Landing Gear Services completed rehabilitation work on its plating shop and resumed full operations in December last year, after a fire damaged the facility in November 2012. The rebuild project was supported by HAECO Hong Kong, HAECO Xiamen and international engineering consultants, ARUP, to ensure world-class standards were achieved.

With approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and The Boeing Company, the newly-built plating shop includes six plating lines capable of accommodating a comprehensive range of Boeing and Airbus landing gear plating processes. The facility is also endorsed by Boeing as an approved Boeing repair station, allowing it to undertake maintenance on Boeing landing gear for the manufacturer’s long-term customers.

A number of airline customers and operators have expressed interest in contracting HAECO Landing Gear Services to perform maintenance services on their equipment now that service has resumed, with scheduled customer Cathay Pacific contracting for a multi-year Boeing 777-300ER maintenance programme.
