To cater to emerging training needs for aircraft maintenance professionals, HAECO Hong Kong has recently built a partial mock-up of an aircraft cabin with cargo compartments in a workshop at its Technical Training Department at Tseung Kwan O.

The mock-up classroom replicates in three dimensions an upper deck section cut from a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. To simulate a generic cabin layout, the deck has been installed with passenger seats, cargo compartments, Power Drive Unit (PDU) ball mat panel and roller tray, and floor beam structure.

The mock-up will be used to conduct interactive hands-on training related to the removal and installation of cargo handling components, strengthening HAECO’s training programmes by enabling trainees to familiarise themselves with maintenance procedures as though they were working on an actual aircraft.
