Nurturing talented young people to join the aviation industry has long been a priority for HAECO, and the company was delighted to be Diamond Sponsor for Hong Kong University’s Design, Build & Fly (DBF) teams at the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) 2022 University and Schools Payload Challenge in June.

Held at the BMFA National Centre, at Buckminster, UK, the challenge saw the two HKU teams compete with 18 other university teams from around the world. Participants had to design the lightest possible model aircraft able to carry four litres of water. The water payload and airframe ratio, as well as the completion of flight circuits under specified load conditions were all taken into consideration.

Hard work paid off, with the HKU students working overnight to perfect their models, and the two teams winning the championship title and 1st runner-up position respectively!
