In May, STAECO completed its first Quick Access Cockpit Voice Recorder (QACVR) design installation on an Embraer ERJ190 for customer Hebei Airlines. STAECO is an Embraer Authorised Service Centre (EASC) for the Embraer E-Jet family, and was approved to work on the ERJ190 in 2015. Design and installation of a QACVR system on a relatively new aircraft type presented something of a challenge for the MRO, which put together a dedicated taskforce to perform advanced on-site inspection of the aircraft before the input.
With the successful completion of the installation, STAECO has become only the second company in Mainland China to offer this capability, and the in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience on the ERJ190 acquired by the STAECO team during the course of the project has ensured they are well positioned to undertake future avionics projects on this aircraft type.
