Engine Services
Trent XWB capability

The Phase VI Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine overhaul facility at Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Limited (HAESL) has been in full operation since mid-2019. The facility has capability on all engine types currently serviced by HAESL, including the RB211-524, Trent 500, 700, 800 and XWB engines.

In order to develop full technical capabilities on the Trent XWB-97 variant, two groups of HAESL engineering staff attended four-week training programmes at the Rolls-Royce facility at Derby in the UK, in July and August respectively. On completion of their courses, the teams were awarded Trent XWB-97 Module 41 certificates, which means they can perform strip/build procedures on this engine type. At present, HAESL has full capability on the Trent XWB-84 and can provide full module change services and partial module repair services for Trent XWB-97 engines. HAESL staff will undertake XWB-97 low pressure bearing balance training before the end of the year, with the remaining Module 01 training to follow soon afterwards.
