HAESL wins HKAEE Award for environmental excellence

Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Limited (HAESL), a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and HAECO specializing in the overhaul, repair, and modification of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB series, proudly received the Silver Award in the Manufacturing & Industrial Services sector at the 2023 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE). This prestigious award recognizes HAESL’s commitment to green management practices and its significant contributions to environmental protection.

HAESL has launched several impactful initiatives to reduce energy consumption, enhance efficiency, and promote recycling. One of its key achievements includes tripling the power generated from solar panels, greatly increasing the share of renewable energy used. The company has also optimized chiller energy consumption using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Since chillers account for 10-30% of total electricity usage, HAESL’s AI-driven program maximizes the efficiency of chillers, pumps, and cooling towers.

Another major initiative is the Fuel Efficiency Project for Engine Tests, developed in collaboration with Rolls-Royce. By incorporating electronic oil consumption tests for Trent XWB-84 engines, HAESL saved over 118,908 litres of jet fuel in 2023.

To encourage recycling, HAESL has installed two reverse vending machines with an instant rebate system, collecting over 4,800 beverage containers each month. Moreover, more than 600 staff members participated in various volunteering activities on Community Day, highlighting HAESL’s strong culture of environmental awareness and leadership in sustainable development.
