HAECO expands solar photovoltaic system for greater sustainability

HAECO is proud to become the largest single-site owner of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system in Hong Kong! Earlier this year, HAECO Hong Kong added 2,200 solar panels on the rooftop of Hangar 1 at its base maintenance facility with support from the Swire Pacific Sustainable Development Fund. This expansion represents a 40% increase in electricity output compared to 2022, reinforcing HAECO's leadership in sustainable energy generation.

With over 8,000 panels in total, the system now generates more than 4,000,000 kWh of electricity annually. This amount is equivalent to the energy consumption of about 1,300 households1 and helps reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,700 tonnes each year—similar to the impact of planting 72,000 trees2.

The growth of our solar PV system is a key component of HAECO’s sustainable development strategy. This strategy focuses on enhancing our contributions to the industry and the community through three pillars: people, environment, and communities. Together, we are committed to ensuring a sustainable and thriving future for the aviation industry.
